About AFRICOMM 2023

African countries are striving for enhancing the Internet infrastructure internally and externally i.e., among African Union (AU) countries, and with other continents. Internet and ICT infrastructure are quite vital in order to improve e-government services and to close the digital dividend for suburban, rural, and deep rural regions. The total length of optical fiber throughout Africa is more than 4 850 km, while the wireless coverage for 4G is about 63%. For terrestrial satellites, thirteen African countries have launched about 48 satellites. All these infrastructures look amazing and Africa looks doing well, however, Internet penetration is still quite low compared with the other continental where it was +43% in 2021, which is below the global average of 67%. AFRICOMM 2023 aims to bring together researchers, academia, industry, and policymakers together in telecommunication to close the gap and unified the goals among them for enhancing African infrastructure and services. Internet aspects from physical up to application and services to be discussed, analyzed, and proposed solutions for certain neglected areas and services that are uniquely found in Africa and do not have interest among investors due to lack of expenditure and ROI factors.
