Introduction
Since its inception, AFRICOMM conferences have attracted eminent academics, scientists, researchers, industrialists, technocrats, government officials and experts from all walks of life, to explore new horizons of innovations in order to identify opportunities and define the way forward for Africa’s development. This pathway aims to promote scientific progress to accelerate Africa’s economic growth and achieve the vision of sustainable inclusive development using IT.
Encouraged by the resounding success of previous editions of AFRICOMM, the Responsible AI Networks Africa (RAIN-Africa) co-organizes with Université Norbert ZONGO the Workshop on Responsible AI for Sustainable Development in Africa on the sidelines of the AFRICOMM 2023 conference to be held in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
During this workshop, the various stakeholders come together to discuss tomorrow’s solutions to today’s dilemmas. The latest developments in artificial intelligence will be discussed, as well as their possible consequences on society and the public sector. The questions attached to these implications will be approached from an ethical perspective, while understanding the African legal framework surrounding these developments.
The workshop will provide a platform for technical exchanges within the research community and will include a paper presentation session, a panel discussion and poster exhibitions. In addition, participants will be treated to a networking activity to establish new ties and foster lasting friendships between colleagues.
